Shopping......

Well, I got a lot of goodies on Tuesday. You know what they say, if you don't buy it now it might be gone when you go back. So shop I did. I got a nifty new camera, the name is unpronouncable, is that even a word, but here is what it does, it takes 8 photos on 1 picture. Yes, 9 on 1 and I can't wait to try it out. It has no flash and you cannot use it indoors or evenings as the pictures will come out dark. Since Tuesday, it's be overcast here but today the sun is shining brightly and I plan to take a few shots. Oh, that is 8 different little pics on 1. I got this camera because D has a POP camera and it takes 9 pictures on 1 but I think only the same on 1 picture. Anyway, she always opens up new avenues for me and I thought it was a great idea. We might even exchange cameras and try them out. Thanks for the film, D. I will post some pictures when I can. Have a great day. Be creative, too.

June ATC

Freestyle Colage was the theme and my card is a mix of paper, stamps, gel pens and rhinestones. I think she looks quite grand all dressed up. My muse, of sort, Scarlett. Can't wait to see what the guild sisters have done with this theme.

A wonderful time............

I had a wonderful time with my girlfriend and fellow artist, Denise. We spent the day in downtown Chicago at all the cutest shops on Armitage and Diversey. Paper Source, All She Wrote, Art Effects and 1154 Li ll. 1154 Li ll is a shop where you can get a purse made by picking the style and fabrics. Denise is having a darling bag made with the coolest patterned and textured fabrics. It will be done in about a month and it will be something unique to have for a long time. We talked, shopped, walked and just had a great day. We lunched at a cute Italian deli and watched it pour rain for about half an hour. We went to Quimby's. If you haven't heard about this bookstore, it's loaded with hand made zines. Zines being the operate word here, the subjects were wide and wild. Some very adult, some very personal, some just weird. You won't find that kind of zines most artists like us read. I can now say that I have been there, very 60s. In the evening my husband joined us for dinner (Italian again, you can't go a block without seeing an Italian eatery.) The boys got along just fine, I overheard my Joe tell her Tom something about shopping and the art stuff and Tom agreed and they both laughed. I didn't get a direct quote but they have a common bond. It was hard to say good night. I didn't want the day to end but it did. I just heard from her and they are on their way to Ikea and then back home. Now I can look forward to another visit.

One more thing..........

Happy Summer to all. I hope that summertime is a good time for you and your family and friends and that you get the time to make beautiful art and share it on your blogs for others to see. Be creative in the warm summer days ahead.

Can't Wait..........

I am counting the days until 6/26 because my dear friend, D, is coming in from St. Louis and we are going to get to spend the whole day together, talking, walking, shopping, eating and sharing each other company. I haven't seen her in about a year and it will be good to be with a good companion and artist. She energizes me to create and I love to see things through her eyes and how she see the artsy things around us. We will be in downtown Chicago all day checking out our favorite spots and some new ones too. That means we will be loaded down with goodies to make wonderful art and spend time talking. I miss having someone to talk with that understands me and to share our love of art, which no one understands but a friend who does it. And believe me, she does it so beautifully. Hurry, Tuesday, hurry.

Playing catch up......

I have been busy lately and thought I would play catch up and let you know what I have been up to. Last week end I was at my Mom's for a garage sale. Oh my, it took a lot of time to dig through all my stuff and price it and then carry it to her garage and set up and blah, blah, blah!!!
Well, it was a hot and humid week end (so what else is new) and Friday was a bust, hardly no one came around but Saturday was a busy day and I cleared out most of my stuff. I love the holidays and let go of some on my fall and winter decorations but no one was buy. I guess they have plenty of their own, so all of it is going to charity and I am sure some one will enjoy the holidays dishes and decorations. It seems everyone is looking for certain things, one guy wanted musical instruments for children. I couldn't figure that out. Others were looking for watches, old radios and tools. We had nothing but clothes and decorations, jewelry, shoes, purses and an assortment of things they weren't looked for. I know when I go I am only looking for certain things, too. I am looking for all the goodies I see on other blogs. Give me a break, if I found some of the things they do, I wouldn't be home on week ends but out there hoping to find the goodies they do. Although last year, I went to a sale and was surprised at how little this sale was offering. Then I found what I had been looking for, old record album binders, you know, the hard cover books with Kraft paper envelopes with the old 78s still inside. And this place had 4 of them, 3 large, one with 45s and I didn't want to get too excited because the price wasn't on the albums but I wanted them On line I saw them for $35 and $35 dollars, I got all 4 for $4. Can you believe that!?!?! So I grabbed them up and it made my year. Knowing what I could have paid for them , I left a generous donation for a location food drive that the couple supported.

I am also working on 31 charms for a swap, getting ready to see a dear friend next week and just creating and trying to keep up with the laundry and house work. Why do women have so do that stuff like laundry and dusting? I did get a much needed vacuum cleaner (oh joy) so I have been playing with that, too. I hadn't vacuumed in weeks!!!

So I have brought you up to date, let me know what you are up to.
