Happy New Year!!!

Just wishing you and yours the brightest and healthest New Year.

So i made a clanedar for Denise and one for my sister, too. This is the January I did for Deb. I love her. I call her 'lady in a blizzard.' And I was also thinking about Joni Mitchell's song, River, you know, O I wish I had a river to skate away on. That was playing on my stereo when I did it so I think it came out just fine. Posted by Picasa

SiX WeiRdS ThiNgs aBouT Me

  1. Do not pick up coins on the grounds unless heads UP. I think it's bad luck or maybe someone told me it was.
  2. Sleep with the TV on all night long.
  3. Have 30 tubes of lipsticks. 10 tubes of the same shade, and use lip brush to get the very last drop.
  4. Can't sleep in bedroom at night if doors and drawers are ajar. I will get out of bed if I think the closet door isn't shut all the way, ghosties, I guess.
  5. Do not eat foods after expiration date. I check the exp. date on my yogurt and if it's one day old out it goes. Same goes for bread, canned goods and anything with a date.
  6. Always watch a movie from the very begining, if a movie starts (5 minutes I won't watch it.) I have to hear the music, see the very start of a movie, I don't want to miss the mood or anything else.

I have seen others with weird things list and I don't think I am that bad or weird. The list just confirms what makes everyone who they are. LOL Thanks for the tag, Carla, come on how, polish those finger tips.

I wish you a Merry little Christmas. Posted by Picasa

Are you thinking about finding that perfect tree? Are you thinking about decorating it with twinkling lights? I think this little lady is too. Posted by Picasa

Happy December

Oh happy days of rushing about shopping, decorating, and celebrating the holiday season. We rush through it so fast, each of waiting to just relax after the holidays that we forget to enjoy the preparation of the season, the gathering of friends and family and the joy of giving to our friends from the heart. Take a moment this December to relax now and enjoy the wonderful gift of friends and family and sharing and giving. I think, like me, you will enjoy the season so much more. This year, I won't be planning to take that holiday trip, but thinking about how to fill my time with the traditions that make Christmas a joyous time for me and my family.

This is my atc for the guild's 11/06 theme 'Food for Thought' As I worked on this project, I kept thinking that food for thought should be a question, so I came up with this question about women being on the moon, 2. Now that is food for thought. Posted by Picasa

It's Pumpkin Time! A long time ago, I bought several decorated pumpkins in Rochester, MN. while visiting my cousin, Donna. Well, I saw these little pumpkins and decided that I would try to decorate them myself. These are whitish pumpkins and must have a waxy coating on them because I had to use 4 coats of purple paint on them. Put a few (is it ever a few?) rhineshones on and some sheer orange ribbon and there you have it. I love them!!! But I am going to give them to my Mom and I am sure I will make a few more for me and others special friends. Took my about an hour to do, I didn't really wait for anything to dry, just kept on going. Posted by Picasa

I know it's not officially autumn yet but autumn is my favorite season, how about you?? Posted by Picasa

Happy Autumn to you! Posted by Picasa

How long has it been???

It's been a very long time and I don't know where the time has gone but it has been flying!!! Well, it's September now and much cooler here in the windy city so I guess I can get back to my blog. I have been reclining somewhere cold in my condo and haven't sent much time in my art space because it was just too warm. I can't think art when the temps and humidity is so high. Anyway, I will post new art soon and I am getting ready to enjoy the fall weather and getting some art projects started and oh, there are some many new things I want to try. I have seen some many things in the Somerset Studio issues and the Beyond Paper Dolls book by L. Perella. So I will be busy with new projects, new techiques and new gifty things for friends and family. Of course, this fall weather and my Jaguar convertible is always calling my name to take the top down and enjoy the crisp breezes. I will try to resist but it's not easy, I enjoy my convertible more in the fall than the summer, go figure. So I wish you all a good art day, be creative everyday if possible. Ciao!

Sweet Kate

This is my goddaughter, Kat, what a sweetheart, she is on her way to Ireland to be an assistant for an artist who is holding a 7 days oil painting workshop - in a castle no less. She will be his assistant and student, 2. She spent the day with us on her way to OHare to catch her flight to Ireland, then on to London, then to Southampton to visit with her sister. Kat is a recent graduate of the Art Institute, since graduating she is teaching others drawing, her speciality, but wants to learn more about oil painting so she got a scholarship to help out this artist, I wish I knew his name but I don't.I am so proud of her. My wish is that her art takes her up to the stars and back. She deserves all the best. I love her to pieces. Posted by Picasa

Functional Art-InspireMeThursday

Functional Art, my bulletin board. I couldn't find one I liked or large enough so I made my own. It's a foam core board that I covered, it is so light weight and easy to hang, 2. Some of my favorite art hangs out there. Garland made by my friend, Denise. Posted by Picasa

My art space isn't really a messy place, of course, the cabinet, you see on the left could be a bit more organized but it's my space and I love it. Or maybe I just couldn't let you see the really messy parts!!! Posted by Picasa

An island paradise and I will post a few pics when I upload photos on computer. We had warm sunny weather, great people, great shopping, and eating. I got lots of stuff to remind me of my time there. Inspire Me Thursday

My inspiration was Misty Mawn's article in Cloth, Paper, Scissors current issue. She wrote a beautiful article about textured backgrounds. It was easy to follow and simple when I got started. The best part was the gel medium transfers. I had never done a paper to paper transfer with the gel medium, it was SO easy. I didn't want to stop. My series of art is from a large collage that I cut down and assembled. I hope that Misty finds imitation a form of flattery, thanks, Misty! Love your art.

Series of Art for Inspire Me Thursday. I read the article by Misty Mawn about textured backgrounds for collage in current Cloth,Paper,Scissors. I was so awestruck with the technique I had to try it for myself. It was wonderful and fun. Misty is right, you can't stop layering, painting and stamping. Posted by Picasa
