I had a wonderful time with my girlfriend and fellow artist, Denise. We spent the day in downtown Chicago at all the cutest shops on Armitage and Diversey. Paper Source, All She Wrote, Art Effects and 1154 Li ll. 1154 Li ll is a shop where you can get a purse made by picking the style and fabrics. Denise is having a darling bag made with the coolest patterned and textured fabrics. It will be done in about a month and it will be something unique to have for a long time. We talked, shopped, walked and just had a great day. We lunched at a cute Italian deli and watched it pour rain for about half an hour. We went to Quimby's. If you haven't heard about this bookstore, it's loaded with hand made zines. Zines being the operate word here, the subjects were wide and wild. Some very adult, some very personal, some just weird. You won't find that kind of zines most artists like us read. I can now say that I have been there, very 60s. In the evening my husband joined us for dinner (Italian again, you can't go a block without seeing an Italian eatery.) The boys got along just fine, I overheard my Joe tell her Tom something about shopping and the art stuff and Tom agreed and they both laughed. I didn't get a direct quote but they have a common bond. It was hard to say good night. I didn't want the day to end but it did. I just heard from her and they are on their way to Ikea and then back home. Now I can look forward to another visit.
